Based on an ancient myth the goddesses of love, Aphrodite and Venus, loved the Arbutus Trees. They have teamed together to walk you through these sumptuous trees, feeding you their love potion made from the intoxicating berries, inducing you to fall in love with them. As you walk though the forest with them, you find yourself feeling the effects of the berries and the visions of the trees become more blurry and psychedelic, until you can hardly distinguish that you are looking at trees at all. I fell in love with the Arbutus tree the first time I saw them (and I didn’t even taste the berries) so when I learned some new photographic techniques to make abstract photos I focused on the arbutus as my primary subject matter to create this series of photos. The intentional camera movement creates an element of movement in the photos and the multiple exposure process causes the colours in the photo to blend together to enrich the tones and vibrance. - Corinne Flaws
